Firmware documentation

Printer firmware, written down properly.

What each release actually fixes, how to install it without bricking the device, and what to do when the panel goes dark halfway through. Notes from our own service calls, not marketing copy.

Three rules before any update

Most firmware disasters we are called out to fix come from skipping one of these.

πŸ“‹

1. Write down where you are

Print a configuration page. It has the current version, the IP and the counters. Without it you cannot tell whether the update ran, and you cannot ask anyone sensibly for help.

πŸ”Œ

2. Protect the power

A printer writing its boot block and losing power needs a service visit. No shared switch, no timer socket, nobody about to unplug the “spare” cable under the desk.

⏸️

3. Empty the queue

Pause the queue and let jobs finish. Documents sent during a flash are dropped without a word, and that is how a payroll run disappears.

Models in this library

Each page covers one device: what the current release changes, three ways to install it, and the quirks that only show up on that model.

We document procedures. Download firmware from the manufacturer, never from a third party.

Stuck halfway through an update?

Tell us the model and what the panel says. We answer firmware questions even for devices that are not on a PrintDoc contract.
