What this release changes
- Adds correct counters for the 500-sheet PF-3110 feeder.
- Fixes IPv6 DHCP renewal — the device dropped off the network after roughly 7 days.
- Improves toner-empty behaviour with third-party TK-3190 cartridges.
Before you start. Print a configuration page and keep it — it holds the
current firmware version, the IP address and the counters you will want if anything goes wrong.
Put the device on a wired connection if it has one, pause the print queue, and make sure nothing
will cut power for the next 7–10 minutes.
Method 1 — web interface (recommended)
- Open the printer’s address in a browser and sign in as administrator.
- Go to Command Center RX → Device Settings → Firmware — upload package.
- Select the downloaded package and start the upload. Do not close the tab.
- Wait for the device to reboot on its own. The panel returns to Ready when it is done.
- Print a configuration page and confirm the version now reads 2S9_1000.006.005.
Method 2 — USB / local
Copy the package folder to the root of a FAT32 drive, insert it, then Menu → Adjust/Maintenance → Service Setting → Firmware Update.
Method 3 — from the panel
If the device can reach the internet: Menu → Adjust/Maintenance → Service Setting. This pulls the same release; it is the simplest route, and the slowest, because the device downloads the package itself.
Model-specific notes
- Kyocera packages contain several parts (main, engine, panel, network). All of them must finish — the panel counts them, and stopping at 3 of 4 leaves a mismatched set.
- The USB drive must be formatted FAT32 with the package folder in the root, not inside another folder.
- Optional finishers must be attached and powered during the update or their firmware stays behind.
If the update fails
A failed upload is not a dead printer. Power-cycle the device, wait two minutes, print a configuration page and check which version it reports. If it still reports the old version, the flash never started and you can simply try again — over USB or the panel this time, not the network. If the panel is stuck on a boot or download screen, follow rollback and recovery.
Not sure it is worth updating? If the device is doing its job and none of the
fixes above describes a problem you actually have, leave it. Firmware is maintenance, not an upgrade.
