What this release changes
- Fixes a queue stall when several Windows 11 clients print over IPP at the same time.
- Adds correct paper-size handling for the 550-sheet tray 3 accessory.
- Closes a remote crash in the LLMNR responder (device reboots on a malformed packet).
Before you start. Print a configuration page and keep it — it holds the
current firmware version, the IP address and the counters you will want if anything goes wrong.
Put the device on a wired connection if it has one, pause the print queue, and make sure nothing
will cut power for the next 6–9 minutes.
Method 1 — web interface (recommended)
- Open the printer’s address in a browser and sign in as administrator.
- Go to Embedded Web Server → Tools → Printer Updates → Firmware Update.
- Select the downloaded package and start the upload. Do not close the tab.
- Wait for the device to reboot on its own. The panel returns to Ready when it is done.
- Print a configuration page and confirm the version now reads 002.2537A.
Method 2 — USB / local
Copy the .ful file to a FAT32 flash drive, insert it in the host port on the back and hold Resume for 5 seconds.
Method 3 — from the panel
If the device can reach the internet: Setup → Service → LaserJet Update → Check Now. This pulls the same release; it is the simplest route, and the slowest, because the device downloads the package itself.
Model-specific notes
- The printer reboots twice. The second reboot happens 30–60 seconds after the panel already says Ready — do not cut power in between.
- If the device is behind a print server, pause the queue first: jobs delivered during the flash are dropped silently.
- Firmware 002.24xx and older must be updated to 002.2508A before 002.2537A will be accepted.
If the update fails
A failed upload is not a dead printer. Power-cycle the device, wait two minutes, print a configuration page and check which version it reports. If it still reports the old version, the flash never started and you can simply try again — over USB or the panel this time, not the network. If the panel is stuck on a boot or download screen, follow rollback and recovery.
Not sure it is worth updating? If the device is doing its job and none of the
fixes above describes a problem you actually have, leave it. Firmware is maintenance, not an upgrade.
